Can Tho

Located in the middle of the MeKong delta, used to be called the capital of the Western part of Vietnam that still gets the name now for white rice, Can Tho straddles a network of rivers and canals. With abundant sunshine and high humidity, Can Tho is the perfect place for ecotours and boat trips. There are distinct dry and rainy seasons and an average temperature of about 27 degrees. Ethnic minorities include the Hoa and the Khmer.

A centre of the Communist resistance during the American war, the base, 60km south west of the city, is now a museum. The boat trip to the museum is itself a highlight.

Thot Not District, famous for its many species of storks.
Ong Pagoda
Ong Pagoda was founded in 1556 by the Fujian Chinese Congregation and has been rebuilt in 1894, an outstanding example of religious architecture.

Boats bring visitors to Cai Khe Island, Con Au, Phu An Park and Con Son. Beneath the trees bearing sau rieng, areca and oranges, one can enjoy delicious meal, lie in a hammock while listening to birds singing or when you have eaten, take a trip to the market gardens and farms.
