BY BUS

Pattaya can be reached in a comfor-table 2-hour drive along Sukhumvit High-way via Bang Na, Bang Pakong, Chon Buri and Si Racha. Airconditioned, and non-aircon-ditioned, coaches regularly leave from the Eastern Bus Terminal near Soi 63 (Soi Ekamai) on Sukhumvit, and the Northern Bus Terminal on Phahon Yothin Road throughout the day. Departure times and fares may be obtained by telephoning the Eastern Bus Terminal (392-9227 for airconditioned coaches and 391-2504 for regular coaches) and the Northern Bus Ter-minal at 279-4484-7 for airconditioned1 coaches.

TRAVEL WITHIN THE RESORT

Travelling around Pattaya is most convenient by mini-buses that continually ply the Beach Road and Pattaya 2 Road in counterclockwise circuits. Fares are 5 Baht per person per ride. Fares beyond the main bay are negotiable. Those who wish to be independent, and explore Pattaya's surrounding countryside and beaches at leisure, can hire motorcycles, jeeps or cars. The visitor is advised to shop around, and consult local tourism publications, for different compa-nies offer different prices and conditions. BOATS

Ko Larn, Pattaya's nearest island, is some 45 minutes by ordinary boat (15 minutes by speedboat) from Pattaya Bay. Boat charters cost 800 to 1,500 Baht per day, depending on the season, the number of tourists and size of the boat, most of which are converted fishing smacks. Sailing junks also make the trip to Larn island. The trip includes lunch and coral viewing, with departure at 9.30 AM and a 4.30 PM return.
