Sport and Leisure

Mongolia is not as passionate as other countries when it comes to sports. Of course the most popular sports are horse racing, archery and wrestling, but these are more spectator sports.

How ever, the Mongolians have been successful at a number of others including skiing, ice hockey, sumo wrestling and boxing. A number of other sports are beginning to catch on due to western influence.

There is now a golf course here and the younger generation are beginning to get interested in football, basketball and snooker. For the visitor there is access to cross country sking, golf and swimming within and around the capital.

Some of the hotels also provide gym equipment to non-residents. In their leisure time, Mongolians tend not to indulge in sporting activities as participants. As mentioned above, they are avid spectators of the three manly sports, but leisure activities tend to be centered around the family.
