Snow Ice Tour |
|
This winter tour to three
provinces in northeast China is unique and interesting. Pastures,
mountins and trees are covered by snow, a sea of whiteness. Local ice
sculptures are another attaction . Skating, skiing, hunting and
horse-back riding offer special enjoyment. After a day's activity ,
free chats with the local people on warm earthen beds help rid
travelers of the cold.

Imperial Palace in Shenyang
The Imperial Palace in Shenyang is
the place where Nurhachi - Emperor Tai Zu (1559 - 1629) and his son
Emperor Tai Zong (1592 - 16430 once lived. This palace complex covers
an area of 60,000 square meters, and has over 90 buildings and over
300 rooms. Construction of the main structure was started in 1625, and
completed in 1636. The whole complex consists of three routes: the
east, the imperial and the west routes. In the east route, there are
the Dazheng Hall, and Shiwang (Ten King) Pavilion. In the imperial
route stands the Chongzheng Hall, which passes through Daqing Gate,
Qingning Palace and ascends Moon Terrace. In the west route are
Wenshou Pavilion. All the buildings were constructed during the reign
of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. The style of the buildings is
a combination of the Han and Man designs. The Imperial Palace in
Shenyang is one of the two best-preserved palace complexs in China. |

Zhaoling
Tombs (Northern Tombs)
Zhaoling Tombs is
the mausoleum of Emperor Tai Zong of the Qing Dynasty and his wife
Borjijit. It covers an area of 4,500,000 square meters. Combining the
architectural styles of Ming and Qing mausoleums, it became the
largest and the most beautifully situated among the three mausoleums
outside the Great Wall in the Qing Dynasty. As it is situated to the
north of Shenyang, it is also known as the Northern Tombs. Following
Nurhachi's ambition to unify the northeast, Tai Zong , Nurhachi's son,
succeeded in unifying the northeast and established the Qing Empire in
1636. He died in Shenyang in 1643. The construction of Zhaoling Tombs
started in 1643 (the eighth year during the reign of Emperor Chong De
of the Qing Dynasty) and was expanded during the reign of Emperor Kang
Xi and Jia Qing. It is one of the best preserved ancient tombs in
China.
Entering Zhenghong Gate of the mausoleum, you see a spirit way with
twelve stone animals arranged symmetrically on both sides: lions,
Chinese unicorns, supernatural sheep, camels, horses, and elephants.
Fangzheng and Baocheng, the main parts of the mausoleum, are
structures basically similar to those at Fuling Tombs. Iron bells
under the eaves tinkle in the wind in Fangcheng and wormwood sways on
Baoding.
Behind Baoding is man-made Lonye Hill luxuriant ancient pines. It is
now open to the public and called Beiling Park. |

Hunting Ground at Taoshan
Mountain
Taoshan Mountain Hunting Ground,
situated in Taoshan Village of Lieli County of Heilongjiang Province,
is 400 meters above sea level. The highest peak is 1,400 meters. The
average temperature is 1.10 C . From late October to April every year,
the hunting ground is open to tourists. This ground covers an area of
21,000 hectares of hunting field and an area of 200,000 hectares of
wild animal protection zone. This area is a natural home for various
kinds of wild animals, such as dear, bears, lynxes and otters. Here,
there are hotels and sheds for hunters. Since the opening of the
hunting ground in 1984, tourists from different countries have been
here, hunting and sight seeing. The hunting ground provides such
services as interpretation, guide tour, vehicles, horses, guns,
hunting dogs, processing of preys, and cargo transportation

Aerolites Museum in
Jilin City
The Aerolite Museum is located in Jilin Museum. On March 8, 1976 a
heavy meteorite shower took place in the area of Jilin city. The total
weight of the falling stony meteorite was 2,700 kilograms, the biggest
weighing 1,770 kg. All these are on display in the Aerolite Museum in
Jilin. |

Yanbian Korean Folklore
The Korean people are all good
singers and dancers. The art of Korean songs and dances has a long
tradition and mass character. Yanbian Korean songs and dances are
especially popular. Not only the young people in Yanbian sing and
dance well, the elderly and children do well too. On jubilant
occasions often a whole family is turned out to dance.
The Koreans love also sports. Grand nationality sports meet is held on
big holidays and festivals. Playing on the swing and on the
springboard and westling are the most popular sports items. Playing on
the swing is a tradition of the Koreen women . Tourists will see them
swing at the entrance of their villages of on the threshing grounds,
their colorful gowns flapping like beautiful butterflies. |
